Matias Quiet Pro Keyboard Matias Quiet Pro Keyboard For Mac

After buying the 'quiet pro', have come to the conclusion that Matias lost its touch on this one. The first keyboard died on me in the first month of use. They were great in sending a replacement, but now that replacement keyboard is starting to fail (getting duplicate keystrokes on various keys). Keyboard enthusiasts tend to make typing videos to show how the keyboard sounds like, and if you watch and listen to a Matias Quiet Pro video it seems so clacky and loud but don't be fooled this keyboard is quite silent in real life. The Quiet Pro Keyboard comes in a solid box with an instruction pamphlet covering basic use and the function keys. Not quite an Apple product unboxing, though a functional, totally professional presentation.

The 3 USB ports are also a really great feature. I like the black key caps, which don't show dirt and probably won't yellow over time like white ABS plastics will. Lastly I kind of appreciate how Matias omitted any branding or logo on the board except for the model sticker on the bottom. Cons: The keycaps could be a little thicker. They're thin ABS and don't feel very substantial. A little more money there would absolutely go a long way toward the typing experience. Additionally, the case plastic could be a little thicker and more substantial.

There seems to be a sturdy metal mounting plate and height-adjusting feet are sturdy and made of thick plastic. Also, while the case looks to be a little on the hollow/flimsy side, it's structurally sound and doesn't rattle or flex.

I have owned this keyboard for a year and 7 months at the time of this review. (It is now unusable and I've thrown it away). This keyboard is very nice to type on. I really like the markings on the keys to help learn Mac keyboard combinations. However, the past few weeks the keyboard has begun doubling letters when I type. This is happening on multiple keys. I have tried vacuuming but it does not make any difference.

I love it, brought it to my office and typed on it and its as quiet as any cheap membrane or scissor switch keyboard. One one complained at all, and they were glad that I stopped using my noisy Das and Tactile pro.

I find that the soft clickety-clack of this keyboard and the press-play distance of the keys allows me to type with fewer mistakes and keeps my fingers in place more easily. I was concerned about the reports of the standard keyboard by Matias being too loud, so I took a chance on this quiet version. I am very happy. Since I type all day for a living, having precise feedback to my fingers is extremely important.

Most keyboards allow only a few keys to be pressed at once, so they can't keep up with very fast typists. The result is called ghosting - letters missing from what you actually typed, or additional letters that you didn't type. The Quiet Pro has special Anti-Ghosting Circuitry to eliminate these problems. You can type as fast as you're able; the Quiet Pro will keep up. Anonymous I previously owned the corded Apple aluminum keyboard. The keys have gotten imprecise after a couple of years of daily use.

Mac-friendly function keys. Just like an Apple keyboard, the Quiet Pro’s function keys let you control screen brightness, volume, iTunes, and more. There's even an Fn key, that lets you momentarily change the function keys back to their traditional duties, when you need them. ™ € £ © are easy to find. Extra handy (but hard to remember) symbols are printed right on the keys.

Be prepared for mac. The first keyboard died on me in the first month of use. They were great in sending a replacement, but now that replacement keyboard is starting to fail (getting duplicate keystrokes on various keys).

I LOVE this layout because it provides me with a very compact keyboard and minimizes my use of the Function key. As an analyst who works with MS Office apps and SAP, I need easy access to the F-keys and the arrow keys.

Aside from being a mechanical keyboard with a proper tactile feel, it was also one of the only Mac keyboards that displayed the characters from the Mac OS Roman character set on the alphanumeric keys. Given that this feature has been present sine Mac System 2, I cannot fathom why Apple has never included or sold keyboards that showed these characters. That stated, I loved my Tactile Pro, but like most mechanical keyboards, I was loud. While not an issue at home, my co-workers would have been rightfully peeved if I had a Tactile Pro in the office. Thus, in 2015 I purchased a Quiet Pro to use with the iMac my employer purchased to replace the Dell tower that I used when its motherboard died.
